Summary: Mega Memory
Comment: The book describes some popular techniques for developing
memory. There is a similar book "Superlearning" by Ostrander
which provides more scientific substantiation for the
various learning techniques.
Trudeau's work describes "Mental File Folders" which are
individualized slots for storing information. Everything
seems to be compartmentalized. For instance, a kitchen
list would have the subject visualize the location of
major appliances like the blender, toaster, refrigerator
etc.
Recall is divided into a number of stages. i.e.
think, emote, search, create and know .
Unlike most memory books, Trudeau does describe some
classic foods which interfere with cognition. i.e.
white flour, coffee and aspartame
The work associates lecithin with genius capability.
Again, I'd like to see some scientific literature
on the subject although the notion is interesting.
The work tackles the difficult area of remembering
names and faces through association and pegging.
Memorizing is made easier through pictorial
relationships of imagining and speaking words aloud.
The book is a good consolidation of some known techniques
and methodologies. I like the portion of the book covering
power nutrients and learning . Overall, the book is good.
I would like to see a better citation of the
existing learning theories, methodologies and references.

Summary: Fleas cannot be Pavlovianly conditioned. Fleas do not have a CNS!!!!!!
Comment: I have read every single book on Memory enhancement currently in print. I was shocked and saddened by researching Trudeau on the internet, and reading about his extensive criminal record for fraud, forgery, and theft. To call him a con man is to go lightly on this sociopath. One of the most idiotic statements made by Trudeau is on page 69 of his book, and entitled "The Jumping Flea." Treadeau states that fleas can be conditioned, ala Pavlov's dogs, by placing hundreds of fleas in a glass jar, sealing the top, and letting the fleas whack their heads on the lid. After a passage of time, the fleas will be conditioned to jump just below the lid. This same analogy has been used with elephants, bears, ants, etc. Just chain an elephant to a tree, and eventually you can unchain him and he won't run away. None of these theories are true. A flea will jump out of a jar at the first available chance. Even common sense says this is impossible. I would now like to challenge convicted felon, con man, and sociopath Kevin Trudeau to the following test. We go to the Econo Motel in Niles Illinois and strap Trudeau onto a bed. Trudeau is now immobilized. We then take a fifty gallon drum filled with millions, billions, trillions of "Conditioned fleas" and place them adjacent to Trudeau, and remove the lid. We then come back and examine the results 24 hours later. What do you think we will find? If Trudeau is so confident in his theories, why won't he submit to this test on television? Trudeau is a fraud, con man, and psychopath. Don't buy this book.
Anyone who has taken high school biology, and received a grade of "C" would know that fleas are insects and do not have a central nervous system (CNS). Worms, such as earth worms and planaria have a CNS and can be Pavlovianly conditioned. Shock a worm and turn on a light. Eventually the worm will contract when you turn on the light. THIS IS NOT POSSIBLE WITH A FLEA AS THEY DO NOT HAVE A CNS. THIS IS IN THE TEXTBOOKS. KEVIN TRUDEAU AND MANY OF THESE OTHER QUACKS ARE THE BERNIE MADOFF'S OF MEMORY. They want you to think you can get something for nothing. We all use 100% of our brains every day. Ask your Doctor if common sense doesn't tell you so.
I have decided to cite the following 2 reference books, which summarize what every reference book now in print states as fact. The Encyclopedia of Human Behavior: Psychology, Psychiatry, and Mental Health by Robert M. Goldenson, PhD, and the Oxford Dictionary of Psychology by Andrew M. Colman. "Research has shown that all professional memory performers use mnemonics. One of the most phenomenal and most thoroughly investigated of mnemonists, the Russian man usually referred to as S (actually called Shereshevskii), studied in depth by the Russian neuropsychologist Alexander Romanovich Luria (1902-77) and described in his book The Mind of a Mnemonist (1968), relied solely on mnemonics, mainly the method of LOCI."
When pseudo-psychologists, quacks, and hacks, who don't know jack about the subject, make false claims, do not believe them.
I CHALLENGE ANYONE TO CITE A COLLEGE PSYCHOLOGY OR BIOLOGY TEXTBOOK THAT STATES HUMANS ONLY UTILIZE 1%-10% OF THEIR BRAINS. TEXT BOOKS WILL STATE THE FACTS. WE USE 100% OF OUR BRAINS EVERY DAY.
Also, does the author have a college degree from an accredited institution? Kevin Trudeau, Tony Buzan, Harry Lorayne, and Domenic O'brien DO NOT EVEN HAVE A COLLEGE DEGREE. SHEESH!!! WHAT QUALIFICATIONS, BESIDES FELONIOUS CRIMINAL CONVICTIONS FOR FRAUD, DOES KEVIN TRUDEAU HAVE TO WRITE THIS OR ANY BOOK. HE DOES NOT EVEN HAVE A COLLEGE DEGREE. HE IS THE BERNIE MADOFF OF MEMORY AND BOOKS.
Consider the following points:
Would you buy a book on mathematics where the author states 1+1=3?
Would you buy a book on astronomy where the author states the earth is flatter than a pancake?
Would you buy a book on chemistry where the author states you can turn lead into gold?
Would you invest your money with Bernie Madoff's fund of funds?
DON'T BUY THIS BOOK. CHECK OUT ANY COLLEGE TEXTBOOK AND YOU WILL SEE THE AUTHOR IS NOT AN EXPERT.

Comment: After following just a little in the book, I saw results that I didn't think was possible.

Summary: It worked for me?!
Comment: I actually took the mega memory course with Kevin years ago. I thought it was one of the best courses I ever took. I graduated from a computer technical school with A+'s on just about every test using the information I learned in the course. I don't want to mislead you here, understand that I didn't read this book but took the course and I loved it. I can't imagine the book being bad.
I would like to mention that Kevin was extreamly good at the technique's he taught us. Out of 30 or 40 people, he remembered everyones first and last names without error. Then asked a few questions as the class went on then at the end of the class recited back all the info he learned about us. I was pretty cool.

Comment: I tried to get into this book, but can't quite get past chapter 2. I'm hoping that I will get (bored) enough to try to read it sometime later.
